Company Management

Likewise Recording Studio was founded in 1980 by the current owner, Hans Thirion. He is a qualified sound engineer and a keen musician as well as a vocalist. He was one of the first recording engineers in South Africa who experimented with MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) and in this field he is still very much on top of things.

His first recording studio started out from a converted garage which was modified and soundproofed, from there his knowledge regarding soundproofing, etc. The recording system used during this period was 'PARIS', a top-of-the-range software package at that time, which served the studio very well. Incidentally, 'PARIS' are no longer supported by 'Ensoniq Digital Systems' and Hans was forced to change computer software beginning of 2007.

Hans is also well educated in the computer and Windows environment which just gives him that edge in the recording business. With the migration away from 'PARIS' and the purchase of AVID PRO TOOLS , which will now fill the gap left by 'PARIS', Hans also had to upgrade the computer hardware as well. Today the studio boasts an impressive amount of computing power all connected via a wireless network.

The new studio and recording booth was designed and built using the best materials available for this type of application. The result is a studio which is excellent for production and recording purposes.

The remaining equipment comprises of 'Tannoy' and 'SPIRIT' speakers for monitoring purposes, 'Rode' and 'Audix' recording microphones and 'Behringer' mixers.
